M.E.M. Setting the Stage for Stardom
“Let this be a lesson to those who were wondering what happens when three NYU jazz students team with a few scene-seasoned musicians, all of whom seem to possess an overwhelming pop sensibility. The result is complex yet straightforward, with little treats for music nerds packed behind naked radio hits, like someone stole a tween’s ipod and mixed it with Animal Collective.”
- Knocks From the Underground
Since 2008, MEM has been mesmerizing audiences and listeners alike with their innovative song writing, dazzling sonic experimentation, and multi-sensory live performances. Squeezing epic tunes into tidy conceptual boxes, MEM produces what most of us would call ‘pop songs.’ It’s a stunning magic trick, but don’t strain too hard trying to decipher the mechanics or you’re liable to disturb the illusion. As the guitarist of MEM said, “Our goal is not to ‘hide a pill in the food,’ but rather to turn that pill itself into something tasty.”
With just over a year of touring, MEM is already blowing up the North East markets from Vermont down to Washington D.C. and their demand has been steadily growing. They currently have a live acoustic video featured on Blender.com alongside Jett and Papa Roach and have recently licensed their song ‘Architect’ to one the world’s largest conference call company’s.
MEM creates an experience at all their shows that take the listener down a sonic rabbit hole. Utilizing light shows, intricately produced visual projections, and audience participation, MEM creates a futuristic party experience. The audience leaves each and every show with a shiny souvenir bag full of hummable melodies, incredible memories, and new friends.
MEM has come to pop through the back doors of jazz, classical, and electronic idioms. So, go digging down the rabbit-hole; put your memories in motion and enjoy the trip through rock’s back door (and beyond) with MEM.
